” For bravery and devotion to Duty.  During the attack on BROODSEINDS RIDGE on 4/10/1917  this N. C. O was a member of a carrying party, carrying ammunition etc. up to the front line.  After the Officer was wounded, L/Cpl Caporn took charge, and by his energy and bravery , succeeded in keeping the front line supplied ; leading his men through heavy enemy shelling on three occasions “.
