Details of Soldier’s Death

Informant – 3035- SMITH, W. G. – 48th Battalion” On October 11, 1917 we hopped over near the Ypres Railway Line, we gained all our objectives. HENFRY was hit in both legs and was lying on the edge of a shell hole a few yards in front of me. His cobber ( name not recalled ) went out to him. HENFRY died in about 2 hours. We were forced to retire about 5.00 pm “.
