Commendation ( Apologies for inability to read full details on Service File )-  ”  At R—–Court where wounded men of 17th Battalion found in Shell hole as Coy getting on the work of——————-CT to OGI  on the left flank—-this NCO  volunteered as one of——–to carry in the wounded on night 5/6 May.  He showed great courage  and good example in traversing shell swept areas recovering  men who had been lying out unattended since morning of 3rd “.
