” Trooper SARRE on the night 29th/30th September 1918 was one of O.C. Lieut GWYNNE’s troop which stormed the rocky ridge of SASA.  He was in charge of a troop Hotchkiss Gun with which weapon he did considerable damage amongst the enemy.  During the pursuit at daylight on the 30th he gallopped his gun forward as close as it could be brought to the action and shot the crew of a leading field gun hereby causing its abandonment by the enemy.  SARRE showed conspicuous gallantry and dash throughout the whole of these operations “.
