REPORT ON SOLDIERS DEATH

Informant –  BYWATERS, Pte. T- 5069, Machine Gun Section- ” C ” Company 11th Battalion –  ” I saw ABBOTT killed in our front line at Mouquet Farm on July 28, about mid-day. He was shot through the heart by a sniper’s bullet  and was buried at the back of the parapet.  As far as I know , no cross was put over the grave. He came over from Western Australia with me in the 16th Reinforcements to the 11th Battalion. We joined up with the Battalion at Bertacourt France. Description- Age between 30 and 40, fair, nuggety build “.
