RECOMMENDATION FOR ADDITIONAL AWARD
On 29th April 1916, Sergeant Evan BAIN was recommended , with Trooper Mort Pedlar and Lance Sergeant David Attwood for additional distinction by Brigadier-General Antill, the citation reading as follows:-
“These three men were specially selected to act as guides and scouts to the troops landing at Suvla on August 6th, remaining with them under great danger and under very difficult circumstances during the operations of the ensuing week. The British Officers, under whom they served, spoke in the very highest terms of their work, and declare that their names should be brought under notice of the General Officer Commanding”.
(Unfortunately, this recommendation for approval was never promulgated by the AIF).
