” At POZIERES, France on 22 August, 1916 during operation near Mouquet Farm, noticed L/Cpl REX¬† lying out in the open, wounded, about 200 yards from the enemy trench trying to get back when the Germans opened fire on him. BLYTHE made the remark ” I like young REX” and jumped out of our trench¬† and ran over to REX, pulled him into a crater, bandaged him up, and under very heavy fire , succeeded in carrying him back to our lines. His gallant act undoubtedly saved REX’s life “.
