The following description of the circumstances of CRADDOCK‘ s Death was in a Certified Letter to the Red Cross, from 2668 – Private ICK, H. E.- 16th Battalion AIF ”  There is no doubt about his death, he was not actually killed  on the spot , but died  while being  brought in by the Stretcher Bearers. I knew L/Cpl. CRADDOCK personally, and he came from West Australia with the seventh reinforcements of this Battalion and was in the same platoon as myself “.
( ICK’s version of events was identical to another report from 2632- KLOPPER, Sergeant ).
