MILITARY  MEDAL

Date  of  Recommendation : 18 August 1918

” During our attack on the BLUE  LINE on 10th August 1918, Cpl. DELFS showed most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  With six men he pushed forward outflanking and capturing an enemy Machine Gun which was enfilading our left flank, bringing in a wounded man of the party under heavy fire.   This N.C.O was wounded three times before being evacuated, remaining on duty until the objective was gained.  Throughout he showed utter disregard for personal safety and the greatest grit and admirable leadership “.
