21/08/1916-  Albert Barnet FACEY married Evelyn Mary GIBSON at St Davids Church of England, South Bunbury WA.

 

1981- Albert Barnet FACEY published his Autobiography ” A Fortunate Life ” . This book made him famous, at the age of 86 years, and won the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction and a National Book Council Prize.  The Book has been made into a Play and a Television Mini Series.
Facey’s success as a writer is remarkable, as he had little schooling, and taught himself to read and write.

FACEY died in 1982, nine months after his book was published.  His wife Evelyn had pre-deceased him in 1976.  They had 7 children , and their eldest  son , also named Albert Barnet FACEY,  was killed during the fierce Battle of Singapore in 1942, whilst serving with the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion in The Australian Infantry Forces.
