Date of Recommendation : 23 July, 1916

Action for which Commended :  ” Captain Geddes was appointed Brigade Bombing Officer in Egypt, and was untiring in his efforts in training bombers for the Brigade.  During the operation of 19/20 July at Petillon, this Officer supervised the supply of grenades to the firing line under heavy fire.  While carrying out these duties he was buried in a dugout, and when rescued, although suffering from shock, continued to do excellent work until the conclusion of the operations.  He has since been appointed to command the Divisional Bomb School and done most admirable work.  He is constant in his devotion to duty. “
