RECOMMENDATION FOR DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL

” For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Whilst the position was being heavily bombarded by high explosives, gas shells and machine guns , this N.C.O stuck to his work of  dismounting three heavy Howitzers , and enabled one gun  and portions of two others  to be withdrawn. He has displayed a splendid  example of courage  and resource throughout the operations “.
