Details of Soldier’s Death

Informant – 3035- SMITH, W. G. – 48th Battalion – ” On October 11, 1917 we hopped over near the Ypres Railway Line, we gained all our objectives. HENFRY was hit in both legs and was lying on the edge of a shell hole a few yards in front of me. His cobber ( name not recalled ) went out to him. HENFRY died in about 2 hours. We were forced to retire about 5.00 pm “.
