Date  of  Recommendation : 4 March 1918

 ” This Driver drives the Battery Cook’s Cart, and during the whole of the period from the 29th September to 11th November 1917, when his Batterywas in action near WESTHOEK, east of YPRES, did not, on a single day, fail to deliver rations and stores to the Gun Position.  On many occasions, it was impossible to pass through the barrage on the road, and the road being torn up by shell-fire he drove his cart as near as possible , and then carried the rations  and stores himself to the gun position.  His determination and pluck throughout, enabled his comrades to always get their rations, thereby assisting to keep the guns in action, and his comrades in good spirit.  This Driver’s devotion to duty is worthy of special recognition “.
