 ” For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.  At LAGNICOURT during May 1917  he was in command of a Platoon  defending a very important isolated post .  He controlled his men in a most efficient manner, disregarding danger,  and was able to secure very important information  concerning movements of the enemy in that sector.  His unfailing cheerfullness and courage gained for him the utmost confidence and respect of his men “.
