Details of Soldier’s Death

Informant – 2180- HEPTON, J. J.  51st Battalion AIF ” On August 15/16 Sergeant LEE was killed on the Somme by a shell.  Being a Wesleyan Lay Preacher LEE was well known and popular, and his death about which , there appeared no doubt, was regretted “. 
(HEPTON was not an eye witness, but was told  of LEE‘s death by one of the Sergeant’s Company).
