“At Khan Khissier on the 1st October this N.C.O brought his gun into action under heavy fire from close range (40-200 yards) and although wounded , continued to work it, causing heavy casualties to the enemy. He remained with his gun throughout the day. Though hit in the leg, getting through a lot of footwork, making no complaint and refusing to use a Doctor until ordered by an Officer to do so”.
