ACTION AT THE NEK, WALKERS RIDGE, ANZAC, GALLIPOLI

The ill-conceived, heroic and fateful assault in 2 lines on the Turkish trenches at The NEK Gallipoli took place on 7 August 1915. The attack was launched in an Easterly direction from the Australian trenches on Russells Top.
Not one of the 10th Light Horse Regiment actually reached the Turkish trenches, with 37 men being Killed in Action.
McAliece was one of 4 local men who lost their lives in this action ( The others were – 718- Davis, R D  Trpr,  147- Snudden, W J  Trpr,  143- White, E J  Trpr ).
