14/06/1916- Disembarked Marseilles
21/07/1916- Taken on Strength 48th Battalion in the field ex 4th Australian Division Base Depot France
6/08/1916- Wounded in Action Pozieres France ( Shell Shock )
12/08/1916- Now reported Killed in Action, Pozieres, France.


Informant – CONNOLLY, CPL. F.W. 4775, ” B ” Company 48th Battalion AIF – ” He was killed by my side on an outpost at Pozieres on August 12th. A  shell blew him up and killed him outright. I was wounded by the same shell and left for the D/S. I saw his dead body lying there when I left. He belonged to VIII Pl. B.Coy. I knew him quite well, and was Corporal of his Section. He came from Greenbushes, Western Australia, where I knew him “.


Other eye-witnesses were- SYMONDS, CPL. Jack- 48  and WOODS, Pte. William – 391 – both from 48th Battalion ” B ” Company VIII Platoon – ” They were both wounded  by the same shell that killed Pte. MILLMAN on August 12th near the Windmill at Pozieres. The three of them were together out in the open, in a bit of an advanced post, at dusk, when it happened “.
