” At MOUQUET FARM on 4th September 1916 when the hostile artillery fire had held up two parties carrying much needed ammunition and food to the Firing Line , C. Q. M. S. O’NEILL volunteered to lead them through.  This he did twice, and it was his fearless and determined example that inspired his party with confidence and got them through the barrage “.
