RECOMMENDATION FOR AWARD OF MILITARY MEDALS

” On 4th October, 1917, in the vicinity of Westhoek Ridge when in charge of a stretcher squad, exhibited marked gallantry. He kept his squad going constantly for 30 hours. Frequently it was necessary to go through heavy enemy barrage.  At 7.00p.m.  of 4th October, 1917, barrage was particularly heavy, but this man kept his squad in action quite regardless of his own safety”.
