AUTHORS NOTE

Edward Robinbon completed 13 years Prior Service with the British Navy, being awarded A Medal with 2 Bars for his Service aboard HMS ” Alacrity ” – First Bar reading – ” China 1900 Relief of Peking “, Second Bar reading ” Taku Forts “.

In January 1945 , Niece Miss Alma Amelia MEYER signed a Statutory Declaration to claim the Soldiers Medals. Her mother, Lucy Meyer(nee Robinson ), was the Soldiers sister and was deceased. Miss Meyer included her address as School of Music, 5 Victoria Street Bunbury.

From Bunbury Herald  and Blackwood Express dated Friday 27 May, 1921 – ” Edward Robinson had shot himself at Picton shortly after 2.00pm on 24 May, 1921 “. Post mortem examination concluded that Soldier Robinson had discharged a loaded Winchester rifle into his right ear, causing penetration of his brain and immediate death. Although the decased was farming at the Stirling Estate in Capel at the time, he carried out his act of suicide in his sisters home at Picton. It was understood that Robinson had been suffering from violent headaches for a considerable time and often appeared morose.

Edward Robinson committed suicide, which more than likely could be attributable  to the impact/effects of his War Service.
