*** Special thanks to Ross BYDDER, for additional information on the ROSS Brothers, who were his Great Uncles. Ross has James’ War Diary , in which he states that he met up with his brother Mervyn  on 11 July 1916 ( 9 days before his death ). James was then tragically lost on 31 August 1916 in battle between Mouquet Farm and Pozieres, France.
It is almost certain that Mervyn is one of the unidentified bodies ,recovered from the mass grave near Fromelles, which are awaiting positive DNA identification, prior to being interred  in an official War Grave in the purpose built  Pheasant Wood Cemetery Fromelles France. ***
