‘ For bravery and devotion to duty during period 8th August to October 16th 1918. This N.C.O. during the advance from HAMEL to ST. SOUPLET always showed great bravery and tireless energy – especially on August 9th near MORCOURT when the wagon lines were heavily shelled and numerous casualties inflicted on men and horses. His conduct under fire has always been a fine example to his comrades “.
