” Sgt. STEWART has displayed great gallantry and devotion to duty . He has never missed a tour in the time since the Battalion arrived in France and he has always set a fine example to his men by his coolness and courage. AUTHOR’S NOTE
The Recomendation for the Distinguished Conduct Medal was included as a joint nomination with that for 1053- Sgt. SMITH, Horace Bernard, however neither Soldier were ever awarded their DCM. It is not known whether this oversight may have been an Army clerical error , or oversight .
