AWARD of MILITARY CROSS- Date of Award- 18th February 1918
“At Huj on the 8th November 1917, for dashing and gallant conduct during this action. He was operating on the right flank with his troop when he came against heavy Machine Gun fire. He dismounted his troop and concentrated his fire, including Hotchkiss Gun on a convoy of 20 wagons which eventually proved to be an ammunition convoy. His fire drove off the drivers and then dashed into the midst, killed the remaining horses thereby rendering the convoy immobile which was subsequently able to be taken possession of by our troops. His gallant bearing was inspiring to all ranks. I wish to bring his name forward for special recognition”.
