31/01/1917- Admitted 3rd Australian Aux Hospital Dartford England( Mother Mrs E.H. TOGNINI received a follow-up letter from the AIF advising her son was now a patient at the 3rd Australian Aux Hospital at Dartford, England- they also incorrectly stated that he was wounded apparently on a Second Occasion)

 ” At POZIERES as a Battalion Scout he worked courageously in patrolling the Front during the night of August 5th/6th 1916, when he occupied an advanced position about 5o yards from POZIERES  MILL.  His work during the whole time  was most courageously and cheerfully carried out  after being badly wounded in the leg.  He remained in the position until brought in by stretcher bearers  on the morning of August 6th 1916 “.
