MILITARY CROSS
“For conspicuous bravery . On the afternoon of 28th March 1918 at Amman, under cover of heavy machine gun fire, rifle and shell fire, the enemy attacked the position held by the 13th Company under Lieutenant TREE. During the attack Lieutenant TREE was wounded in the shoulder and his Company was forced back about 50 yards. Lieutenant TREE immediately organized his Company and led them in a counter attack, driving the enemy out of his old position and advanced about 30 yards.
This small advance of 30 yards secured our left flank for the rest of the day, and was of great importance”.
