” For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the advance south of BRAY on 26th August 1918, Sgt. WEBB was in charge of the gun limbers of his Company . Throughout the frequent moves forward he rendered invaluable assistance in maintaining a supply of S. A. A. and rations to the gun positions under intense Machine Gun and shell fire. His utter disregard of personal danger acted as a stimulus to all who witnessed him “.

” From 25th February to 16th September 1918 Sgt. WEBB, as transport Sergeant of this Company has by his great devotion to duty rendered invaluable service. In the operations near LIHONS on the 10th and 11th August he personally took a limber up through a heavy enemy barrage and after picking up a section’s guns moved forward with them to a position commanding an enemy strong point, arriving there close behind the infantry. This section had been depleted by casualties, and but for Sgt. WEBB’S prompt action it would have been impossible for the guns to have been up in time to cover the advance of the infantry. In the operations in August and September he never failed to get S. A. A., rations and supplies to the gun teams in the line, often under heavy fire “.
