MERITORIOUS SERVICE  MEDAL

Date of Recommendation : 3 March 1918

” For gallant conduct and devotion to Duty in the field whilst in the YPRES Sector, during the Months of October and November 1917.  This driver was on duty from the 4th October to 11th October 1917 in charge of  a G. S Wagon  and horses, conveying wounded from SANS SOUCI  to MENIN ROAD DRESSING STATION, and on many occasions  worked from 7.00 P. M. until 8.00 A. M. the following morning frequently under heavy shell fire.  His initiative and coolness on all occasions under fire , has set an inspiring example to all.  His conduct has always been of a most exemplary character “.
