REPORT OF SOLDIER’S DEATH

Informant – MOFFATT, Lance Corporal F, 2516 – 16th Battalion – ” He was captured with me at Bullecourt, and going through the German lines he was hit by some of our own barrage. I cannot say if he was killed or wounded as the Germans would not let us stop. When I last saw him, he was lying in a communication trench behind the German lines. We had been attached together in early March to Brigade Headquarters. He told me he came from Manjimup in West Australia. I always heard him called George. His brother was in the same unit and a Prisoner ( H. KAMMAN ). The barrage was heavy “.
