”  Who on the morning of the 6th August 1915, when the enemy attacked  LEANE’S  TRENCH was in charge of a small dressing station on the left and under shell fire very carefully dressed and evacuated about 30 casualties, although suffering from  a severe attack of Influenza  himself at the time  and had to be sent to the Hospital later in the day.  He has on several occasions  shown extraordinary courage and ability in treating wounded under fire, especially during the first week on the Peninsula “.
